Is the kitchen available for use with my rental?
The kitchen can be rented for an additional charge, but it is only available when booking Rotary Hall. If you require kitchen access, please request this at the time of booking to ensure availability.
Can I play live or recorded music?
Yes, but a SOCAN license is required. A fee of $94.62 will be added to your invoice. DJs and live bands must provide their own speakers and sound equipment, and music must end by 12:00 am.
What if I need to cancel?
For a refund, cancellations must be made at least 60 days in advance for Rotary Hall, Mezzanine, or Kitchen rentals, and 30 days in advance for other spaces. The deposit is non-refundable if these notice periods aren’t met.
Is a deposit required?
A 50% non-refundable deposit is due upon booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to the event date for Rotary Hall, Mezzanine, and Kitchen bookings, and 30 days prior for other rooms. Full payment is required at booking if your event is scheduled within these timeframes.
What are the cleaning requirements after my event?
Renters are responsible for removing garbage, recycling, and any décor or rented items by the end of the rental period. Maritime Heritage Centre staff will handle the removal of tables and chairs provided by the venue.
What decorations are allowed?
You may decorate the space, but no nails, tacks, staples, stickers, or high-tack tape are permitted. Confetti, glitter, bubbles, and open flames (including candles) are also prohibited. All decorations must be removed as part of the clean-up process.
Is smoking allowed?
Smoking, including drug use, is prohibited on all Maritime Heritage Centre property, both indoors and outdoors.
Do I need insurance?
Yes, liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $3,000,000 is required if alcohol is served or if the event is deemed high-risk. The Maritime Heritage Centre and the City of Campbell River must be listed as additional insureds.
Can I serve alcohol at my event?
Yes, alcohol is allowed only in the Rotary Hall, Mezzanine, and Rotary Hall balcony. A Special Event Permit (SEP) and liability insurance are required, along with Serving It Right (SIR) certification. The permit must be displayed, and the permit holder or a designated substitute must be present at all times during alcohol service.
What is the latest I can end my event?
All events must end by 1:00 am. Music must stop by 12:00 am. Extensions beyond the contracted rental period may be available at $50.00 per 15 minutes, subject to approval and availability.
